Exhibition: Jaguar Parade São Paulo

Brazilian artist highlights the importance of wildlife conservation with his unique artwork

São Paulo, November 29, 2019 - The streets of São Paulo were taken over by an urban artistic intervention that impressed passersby. Approximately 90 stylized sculptures of jaguars, created by talented artists, drew attention to the importance of preserving Brazilian wildlife.

Among the magnificent exhibited creations, one stood out in particular: the stylized jaguar by renowned Brazilian artist, Sergio Astral. His artwork was carefully placed in the Masp Park, a strategic location to capture the attention of thousands of visitors.

Sergio Astral's jaguar was a true masterpiece of wild art, combining techniques of acrylic paint, spray, and collage to create a stylish and vibrant composition. With his expertise and artistic sensitivity, the artist conveyed a powerful message: the urgent need to protect and preserve the country's wildlife.

As viewers contemplated Sergio Astral's sculpture, they could appreciate every meticulous detail and the effort dedicated to its creation. The stylized jaguar vividly represented the looming threat of extinction faced by this emblematic species.

In an auction held at the Hotel Unique, on the same day as the exhibition, Sergio Astral's artwork was acquired for a significant value. Half of the proceeds were directed to Brazilian entities focused on the preservation of the jaguar and its ecosystem, ensuring the continuity of conservation efforts.

The initiative of Jaguar Parade, responsible for the urban artistic intervention, brought to light the delicate situation of the country's wildlife. According to Onçafari, one of the organizations benefiting from the event, the jaguar is classified as a vulnerable species in Brazil, with an even more precarious survival in biomes such as the Atlantic Forest, where fewer than 300 individuals remain.

The exhibition of the sculptures took place in strategic locations, encompassing emblematic avenues such as Paulista and Faria Lima, as well as landmarks like Oscar Freire Street, Ramos de Azevedo Square, and Sé Square. Neighborhoods such as Santana, Barra Funda, Pinheiros, Perdizes, and Vila Mariana also hosted the majestic stylized jaguars, making the artistic intervention accessible to a diverse audience.

Sergio Astral, with his unique artwork, won admirers and contributed to raising awareness about the importance of preserving Brazilian wildlife. His stylized jaguar, as a true ambassador for endangered species, left an indelible mark on the streets of São Paulo, echoing the message that the preservation of natural heritage is the responsibility of all.
