Sérgio Astral is a self-taught visual artist who has worked as a designer and producer for several samba schools in São Paulo. For four years, he served as a judge for parades, specifically in the costume and float category, for the São Paulo Samba Schools Union. Many of his works have been included in set designs for commercials, soap operas, and events (such as Renner, Eletrolux, SBT, Globo, TV Record, MTV, CASA COR, TELE TON, and TV CULTURA). In 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2018, and 2020, he held various exhibitions at the Vila Madalena, Sé, and Itaquera Metro stations, among others. Starting in 1992, he was part of the Cultural Diffusion Division at CCSP, where he worked for 19 years in video and photography documentation alongside photographers Carlos Rennó and Sossô Parma. For the past 10 years, he has also worked as a designer in the Visual Communication team at the São Paulo Cultural Center. A dedicated fan of Pop Art, the cultural movement of the 1960s with Andy Warhol as its ultimate symbol, Sérgio Astral, born in the eastern zone of São Paulo, is gradually making a name for himself as one of the most creative artists on the artistic scene. Not many artists work with acrylic painting technique on panels and achieve such remarkable results as he does. Tireless, he has painted around 4,600 canvases with varied themes depicting cinema stars, music idols, and comic book heroes. Approximately 800 panels are exhibited in his residence/gallery, available for visitors to appreciate and purchase. His newest series consists of painting on raw fabric (canvas) to later be used as upholstery for armchairs and ottomans. The end result is a modern and distinctive design. With his art fair exhibitions and gallery shows, Sérgio attracts a select audience of celebrities who are interested in seeing their faces painted in the Pop Art style.

Additionally, Sérgio had the opportunity to teach visual arts at Senac Jabaquara, where he could share his passion and knowledge with students. He has also exhibited his works in important cultural centers such as São Vicente Cultural Center, São Paulo Cultural Center, Índia Vanuíre Historical Museum, among others, receiving praise and recognition for his work. Astral continues to evolve as an artist and expand his presence in the art world.
