Exhibitions in the São Paulo Metro galleries
Clinicas Station, on Line 2-Green of the São Paulo Metro, opened its doors in March 2018 to host the inspiring exhibition "Se Liga no Traço" by renowned artist Sérgio Astral. This exhibition captivated the attention of passengers and provided a unique art experience within the urban environment.
The showcase featured a collection of 20 Pop Art-style artworks, exploring strong and vibrant colors. Sérgio Astral employed a combination of techniques, including paper applications, graphite silk, photographs, and acrylic paint, to create a visually stunning universe.
The artworks showcased portraits of iconic figures from the artistic world, such as Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and Marlon Brando as Don Corleone. Additionally, there were depictions of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter as the Mad Hatter and the Red Queen from the film "Alice in Wonderland." Each drawing carried a unique expressiveness and a distinctive interpretation by the artist.

Sérgio Astral is a talented visual artist who transcends the boundaries of the visual arts. Prior to dedicating himself to the creation of his works, he worked as a designer and producer for various samba schools in the city of São Paulo. His experience and expertise in this field led him to serve as a judge for parades for four years, specifically in the category of fantasy and allegory, for the Union of Samba Schools of São Paulo.
Furthermore, Sérgio Astral had the opportunity to have his talent recognized in other mediums. His creations have been incorporated into scenography for commercials, soap operas, and prominent events, collaborating with brands such as Renner and Eletrolux, as well as television networks including SBT, Globo, TV Record, MTV, TELE TON, and TV CULTURA.

The "Se Liga no Traço" exhibition was not limited to Estação Clínicas. In 2006 and 2008, Sérgio Astral's work was showcased in three exhibitions at Vila Madalena, Sé, and Itaquera stations of the São Paulo Metro, providing diverse audiences access to his artworks. This initiative by the Metro, bringing culture into public transportation, offered a unique experience for passengers who could appreciate art during their daily commute.
The "Se Liga no Traço" exhibition stood out not only for the quality of Sérgio Astral's artworks but also for promoting access to art in a public space. The artist's initiative and the partnership with the São Paulo Metro made it possible for a broad and diverse audience to appreciate art, contributing to the dissemination of culture and the recognition of the work of Brazilian artists.
